World Mill video and print, £260. Giclée fine-art print on 240 gsm smooth art paper using archival pigment inks 18 x 24 inches (45.7 x 61 cm). Amon Silex is a digital artist based in the Netherlands, working with moving images and sound. 'World Mill' takes the world as a wheel of images, objects and concepts, continually turning and transforming. As the film accelerates and slows, the images pass like the teeth of a gear. The work follows the impulse to divide the world into separate things, and the ways images are used to represent and reinterpret them. 'World Mill Explained' is a print developed from the film. It gathers fragments of the film into an elaborate diagram with written explanations of their relationships. The attempt to explain the film becomes a way of producing more of it, adding another image and further connections and meanings to interpret.
